Reach Literacy benefitted doubly from the Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust this month.
In mid-November, the organization gifted Reach Literacy a $15,000 grant to support literacy programming like workplace and everyday English classes. Executive Director Molly O’Connor accepted the grant when the team visited the bookstore for an afternoon of volunteering.
Beyond the generous grant, Helmsley Charity Trust team members dedicated a whole day to helping Reach gear up for the fall bag sale. Preparing for the big event was a breeze with so many helping hands and strategic minds. The Helmsley Charity Trust staff arranged tables and moved books by the boxful, labeling and displaying hundreds of titles for visitors — 2,700 books were stickered! They ensured that the classroom and books were well prepared for the crowds.
The staff at Reach Literacy is incredibly grateful for the grant and for the work the Helmsley Charitable Trust dedicated to preparing for the big event. Not only were 90 tote bags of books sold at the bag sale thanks to their help, but the generosity of their grant will bring so much good for those served by English language services at Reach.
The energy and willing spirit that the Helmsley Charitable Trust team brought to the bookstore and classroom make the team at Reach excited for what's to come!
