BEE a Reader is a fantastic opportunity to share the love of books and learning with emerging readers in our community.

This flexible virtual mentoring program pairs 2nd-grade students with caring adult volunteers via Zoom.

Sessions meet from mid-February through April each year.

The remote structure allows us to reach more students for a more extended time with volunteers from all over the US!

​Requires 45 minutes, once per week, for ten weeks, and can be entirely virtual.

Sessions start February 11, 2025.
Sessions end April 25, 2025.

Reading Times:
• MORNING
8:50 to 9:30 AM on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
• AFTERNOON
12:50 to 1:30 PM on Tuesday

BEE a Reader culminates in an optional in-person celebration, allowing students and volunteers to commemorate their reading success. Students can select from a curated assortment of books to take home to promote their reading practice over the summer.

*Weekly meetings occur during school hours at the same time and weekday.
*All volunteers will complete a Sioux Falls School District volunteer application and background check before beginning.
